Rottweiler Training Tips For Flawlessly Behaved Dogs

Rottweiler training can be difficult, but if you let your dog know that you are the boss from the get go, it will go much easier. You see, most Rottweiler’s by nature want to be “top dog” so you need to establish that you are the leader in order to have the ability to train him properly.

There are several things you can do to accomplish this. First you want to get your dog to roll over and expose his belly for rubbing as much as you can. For dogs, exposing their belly is very submissive so this will help establish you as leader. Another is to make sure you always go through any doorway first. And a third is to establish eye contact with your dog and maintain it until he looks down or away.

When training your dog, positive reinforcement is the best option. This means that you should not punish your dog, but you do want to reward him for performing a trick. Yelling and hitting your dog is not effective for training and will never produce the obedient dog you desire. Great tasting treats, plenty of petting and lavish praise are just what will make your dog want to pay attention to your every command.

One critical factor in dog training is that you need to be consistent as well as persistent. You may wish to allocate time every day for a training session. Work toward 10 or 15 minutes of training – any less will not be enough and more could become boring for your dog.

With dog training, all work and no play is definitely no fun so try dividing the sessions up with 5 or 10 minutes of training and then 5 minutes of play time. Continue this pattern until the session is over. Keep an eye on how your dog responds in each session and you will come across a method that works best for them.

It takes patience and persistence to train your dog. Because of this you need to take the time each day to train your dog by repeating the commands repeatedly. You could break the training sessions into two separate sessions or just do 1 but just make sure you do something to train your dog every day.

Training any dog can be challenging, but rottweiler training has it’s own worries. To be effective, you have to be sure to work with the nature of the dog. If you work with this, as opposed to against it, you can quickly have a correctly trained Rottweiler that everyone will love to be around.
